Somya’s Unnoticed Love

Somya was a kind-hearted and selfless girl who always put others before herself. Among all her friendships, the one she cherished the most was with Anvi. From the moment they met, Somya found a sister in Anvi. She cared for her like family, never letting her feel alone. Whether it was late-night talks, standing by her in tough times, or even neglecting her own health to make sure Anvi was okay, Somya was always there.

But Anvi, over time, started drifting away. At first, Somya thought it was just life keeping them busy. But soon, it became clear—Anvi had found new people, new priorities. Whenever her family or old friends were around, Somya became invisible. Messages went unanswered, calls were ignored, and plans were always postponed. Yet, whenever Anvi was free, she would reach out, as if Somya was just an option to fill her empty time.

The hardest moments were when Somya needed Anvi the most. When she was unwell, Anvi was too busy. When she was hurt, Anvi was unavailable. And when Somya expressed her feelings, she was met with excuses and even blame. It was painful—how could someone she loved so much treat her this way?

One evening, Somya sat alone in her room, staring at their old pictures. She had given Anvi her heart, her care, and her time. But what had she received? Neglect, indifference, and a one-sided friendship. It was then that Somya realized something—she had been fighting for someone who wouldn’t even lift a finger for her.

With a deep breath, Somya decided it was time to choose herself. She wouldn’t beg for attention or wait for scraps of affection. She would surround herself with people who truly cared, who saw her worth without conditions.

The next time Anvi called, Somya didn’t rush to answer. She smiled to herself, realizing that she was finally free. Free from the pain of being ignored. Free to find people who truly valued her. And most importantly, free to love herself the way she had loved others.

Anvi never understood what she lost. But Somya? She had gained something far more valuable—self-respect.
